Aid For Soweto Flood Victims

Mining giant Anglo American has donated R1million Rands in aid of the Soweto flood survivors. The freak floods left 15 dead , over 3 missing and over two hundred families homeless.

  • The South African Red Cross Society's Soweto branch is working hand in hand with the local disaster management team to help those affected. We are still appealing to heartfelt people to help us. As more affected people are coming forth, over 570 families have been left with demaged homes and home appliances. This is in Soweto only and about 80 families in Hammanskraal also suffered a lot from these floods.
  • 09 March 2009- Distribution of relief began in Braamfischerville and residents got food parcels, blankets, electrical appliances and matresses, that where donated by the Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, His Excellency Amos Masondo and staff from SA Red Cross Soweto branch.
