2nd Quake prompts urgent SA Red Cross South East Asia Appeal

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is increasing its preliminary appeal to more than R350 million (70 million Swiss francs) in order to bring assistance to some 150,000 families (750,000 people), victims of last Saturday’s devastating earthquake which hit the northern parts of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. The funds will be used to provide food, tents, blankets, cooking sets and health care to survivors.

 

All funds collected will be transferred to the Pakistan Red Cross Society to bring desperately needed relief to the survivors.

 

“This is a natural disaster which will have unparalleled repercussions and South Africans, known for their caring spirit, are being called upon to give generously within their means. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help bring relief to our global brothers and sisters who have lost everything” said Mr Leslie Mondo , Secretary General of The South African Red Cross Society.
